Founded in 2010 by coach Wendy Glasper, the North East Visually Impaired Tennis Club aims to provide and promote opportunities for people who are blind or visually impairmed to participate in tennis.
As well as our own sessions and competitions, NEVITC members are also involved in events across the community. As part of our local Disability Tennis Network we've worked with the Lawn Tennis Association, The Tennis Foundation and the Tony Blair Sports Foundation to help deliver schools tennis programs, with Tyne and Wear Sport and Tees Valley Sport at thei schools games and with partner organisations like Henshaws and Useful Vision to put on inclusive family fun days.
NEVITC have won many awards and accolades, both locally and nationally, an achievemnet which we are very proud. We couldn't have been so successful without the amazing support we've received from local community groups, charities, businesses and individuals. You can find links to just a few of the fantastic people who've helped us out around the site.
The Club is run by a dedicated committee and abley assisted by all its members. We have created a supportive, family like environment where everybody pitches in and helps out. If you would be interested in being a part of this group or would simply like to find out a bit more about us, please contact our Club Chairman.
